Kayoko
Kayoko is originally from Japan and moved to the USA to study English at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS. She transferred to Columbia College in Chicago and graduated with a degree in Marketing and Advertising. Because she is a serious runner, she found herself drawn more to bodywork than business. In order to avoid injuries, she wanted to study anatomy and attended her first bodywork workshop at The Soma Institute of Chicago. With the tools she learned she felt she could help other athletes, especially runners, and decided to become a Massage Therapist.
She graduated from Soma in February 2000 and began her employment with Urban Oasis in March 2002. She intentionally creates a massage to suit the specific needs of the client to help eliminate pain originating from chronic tension in soft tissue. She blends Swedish massage with acupressure and connective tissue techniques for a thorough therapeutic experience. Kayoko is also certified in PUSH Therapy, Reflexology, and is a member of the ABMP Massage Association.
Kayoko now enjoys helping other athletes so they can continuously improve their performance. She is still a devoted runner herself and has completed the Chicago, Boston, and Disney World marathons.
