Dr. Liu

Dr. Yichuan Liu grew up in Taiwan and expressed an early interest in Chinese medicine. Moving to China, she earned a Bachelor of Medicine degree from the premier Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine. As part of her clinical education, she was mentored in the hospital by prestigious professors who specialized in pain management, one of the most important specialties of traditional Chinese medicine.
Moving to Chicago in 2006, she earned a Masters and Doctoral degree from Midwest College of Oriental Medicine. After graduation, her exceptional background in TCM medical theory and clinical experience was recognized by the Midwest College academic staff and she was hired as a professor and clinical supervisor.
Dr. Liu teaches TCM nutrition and herbs for a supporting healthy lifestyle. Dr. Liu has shared with her students a special abdominal acupuncture system for treating obesity and maintaining a healthy weight.
As part of modern Chinese medicine, the countries of China, Korea and Japan have developed a new specialty in cosmetic acupuncture. This modality requires a specialized skill with needle insertion and an understanding of the acupuncture channels that pass through the face. While many practitioners advertise they offer “cosmetic acupuncture,” there are few who understand the underlying theory and needle technique as does Dr. Liu. We hope to offer this service down the road.
Her teaching and clinical style is traditional because it encompasses a Mind / Body / Spirit approach that exemplifies the same attitudes of the famous Chinese Doctors of old. It also aims to fully merge the practices of east and west by taking the best of the old and combines it with modern scientific advances in medicine to provide an integrative approach to patient center care.
