Give Thai Massage a Try!

Unrecognizable young woman receiving Thai massage. Therapist applying pressure with feet to stretch leg. Wellness concept.

Thai massage blends yoga-like stretching, acupressure, and traditional massage techniques. Unlike Western massage, Thai massage is dynamic and interactive. Practitioners use their hands, elbows, knees, and feet to apply pressure and manipulate the recipient's body into various positions, earning it the nickname "Thai yoga." A typical session involves:

  1. Pressure Points: Stimulating specific points on the body to relieve tension and enhance energy flow.
  2. Stretching: Guiding the recipient through stretches to improve flexibility, reduce muscle tension, and boost circulation.
  3. Energy Lines: Manipulating “Meridians” to balance the body's energy for overall health and well-being.

The benefits of Thai massage are extensive:

  1. Pain Relief: Alleviates chronic pain, especially in the back, shoulders, and neck.
  2. Improved Flexibility: Enhances joint and muscle range of motion.
  3. Stress Reduction: Promotes relaxation and reduces stress through rhythmic movements and focused breathing.
  4. Enhanced Circulation: Stimulates blood flow, improving cardiovascular health and immunity.
  5. Energy Boost: Balances energy lines, increasing vitality and reducing fatigue.

A traditional Thai massage session lasts between 60 to 120 minutes and is performed on a futon mat with the recipient fully clothed in loose attire.  Some therapists here at Urban Oasis also perform Thai massage on a massage table (Table Thai).

Therapists who are trained in Thai Massage include Danielle (table only), Jessica, Jorge, JR (table only), Lauren (table only), Lonie (table only), Sarah F and Valerie.
